Audits and Field Approvals

Blackhawk Combustioneering Ltd. has considerable experience for large scale, involved submissions, including variance submissions and logic system design (PLC or DCS), as well as a professional engineer’s stamp for one-of-a-kind projects.

At Blackhawk, our service goes beyond inspecting your combustion equipment for compliance. We provide:

  • a detailed analysis current code status and what is required to meet an approved state
  • funding quality estimates to quantify the costs to bring equipment up to approved status

Blackhawk regularly seeks and obtains variances to continue operation based on developing a plan and schedule to upgrade the equipment at a later date. Later, TSSA inspectors and our technicians test and validate the safe operation of the current installation until the necessary changes are made.

Blackhawk Combustioneering Ltd. is in regular discussions with the Ontario Technical Standards and Safety Authority and their Provincial counterparts on all matters related to Fuels, Boilers and Pressure Vessels.

We can provide you guidance directly, or we can assist you in formulating enquiries to the appropriate division or individual within the TSSA. The requirements for Canadian Registration, the acceptable Quality Programs and the Certificates of Authorization required to import equipment into in Canada can be a problem for non-Canadian companies as these requirements apply over and above the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements. As well, Operating Engineer regulations and their associated equipment horsepower differ across North America.

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) administers and enforces technical standards in the province of Ontario in Canada. It is a not-for-profit, self-funded organization dedicated to enhancing public safety that has been given powers to enforce and create public safety rules in such areas as fuels, boilers, pressure vessels, and operating engineers in order to protect lives and the environment.

Allow Blackhawk combustion engineering to bring its extensive experience of the applicable Canadian and Ontario Acts and Regulations to assist you.
